April is National Poetry Month, and the Arts Council wants to celebrate! Come to Poet’s Pier to experience poetry, literature, and performing arts. Don’t miss Red Magnolia Theatre Company’s production of 12 Angry Men performed by 12 Impassioned Women, part of the national festival 12,000 Voices. You can join in our Head to Head Haiku Battle and When Levees are Margins poetry workshops to create your own masterpiece. Hear essays from the student winners of the Ernest J. Gaines Award and winners of the O'Brien House Essay Contest, and listen to poetry recitation from this year's Louisiana Poetry Out Loud finalists. There will also be performances by the Third Street Songwriters, Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, Louisiana Voices of Women, Of Moving Colors, Southern University Concert Choir, and some French, English, and Creole story-telling by Télé-Louisiane.
