Forum 35 and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, have partnered to create a new interactive art event for Baton Rouge. This juried art exhibition which celebrates Louisiana artists in the Capital City is one that will invite innovation, intrigue, and inspiration to residents and visitors, while providing a platform for working professional artists in our region.
This visual art exhibition follows elements of Forum 35’s Art Melt with a public participation component and will serve as the anchor event for an expanded Ebb & Flow Festival Season, which promotes and celebrates the many cultural events happening in the city in March and April, providing accessible arts and cultural offerings to drive a strong cultural brand for the Capital City. This juried art competition and exhibition frames a season of public accessibility of high quality visual and performing arts, water industry and ecology exhibits, and interactive experiences tied to themes associated with Ebb & Flow, celebrating the city’s meaningful location on the Mississippi River and its leadership as Louisiana’s capital.
Temporary 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional installations will be displayed in participating venues in a three-mile radius around downtown Baton Rouge. The public will be able to view the diverse array of exhibits and vote on their favorites over the course of one month. A national jury will also award winners. The winners of the juried and public prizes will be announced during the Ebb & Flow Festival weekend, April 6 & 7, 2019, and will continue to be on display through the Baton Rouge Blues Festival on April 13-14, 2019.
